Response to Shelly Rodriguez: Dual Language Proficiency
Although this sounds like a good idea, Dual Language Proficiency, it is a very difficult goal for the diverse populations involved... we can certainly attain multilingual tolerant and friendly education with encourage growth in more than just English... The diversity issue seems to have the most utility for me. I strive to ignite students passion to learn and remove the obstacles from that passion. Student centered and student driven education is the most salient form of learning... As an athlete and a sportsman,i value a good coach and guide, but I am the one that wants to learn, perform and conquer, I don't want a fish, I want to me a competent fisherman! Some of my students just want to right as tall costs... They have been beat down and don't know that reasonable risk or reasonable investment or delayed gratification is...Dual language competency can help in this area but needs to be well defined with measurable goals and education plans. Ahh, balance grasshopper... again.
